Another really long day, but I had a blast. I started my day by exploring around my dorm a bit. Found this really cool multipurpose building with great Wifi and American outlets. Oh, and it has an amazing view!
I then went on a campus tour and local area bus tour provided by the school. The school has like 5 routes which will take you within a few miles of campus free of charge. There are a lot of students that live off campus.
After the local tour I went to the registration building to finalize everything. I had my photo taken and received by ID badge. I also picked up my books. One of my roommates told me to bring my suitcase (which has wheels) because I was going to need it. I am so glad I did because the books measured at least 3 feet high and had to weigh as much as a child!
Best part about registration is I met a friend! She is from New York and her name is Afrin Nuzhad, a gorgeous girl of Bengali descent. We hit it off right away. I helped her with her books and we had lunch at the New York bagel shop on campus (which she states is nothing like New York bagels haha).
Afrin and I then took the SGU bus to her apartment to drop off her books. She lives in her own apartment at a great location near the IGA market and Grande Anse beach.
Afrin and I then went to the beach. We had a great time and hung out until the sun had set. I didn't have my phone because I didn't want to have to worry too much about watching it. Here is a pic from google of the beach.
The water was amazing. Not too cold and not too warm. Just right.
Afrin is really social so she had already made plans for the Jouvert or the start of CARNIVAL, and Eastern Caribbean tradition. I'll let you guys read about it.
So Afrin and I went to some crazy pre Jouvert parties. These SGU students make ASU students look sober lol.
It was a pretty crazy night. Here are a few videos of the madness.
One pre party
Second pre party near the Grenada Yacht Club
The actual Carnival pre parade. These are people almost getting ran over. The guy dancing in front of the van is a Jab Jab.
Pics of some Jab Jabs for educational purposes.
These are local people that drench themselves in motor oil and run around smearing it on people and generally causing a ruckus. Whenever Afrin and I saw them we would try to run away haha
Around 4 AM we both had enough partying for one night and caught a taxi back to home. Very crazy day, and a long one at that.
